PIRATE: Bob was a Pirate Re-enactor, most often on the foredeck of the sailing ship, Royaliste. See:
Royaliste home page
Royaliste Privateer! website
Bob and the Royaliste were on camera in the production of the History Channel feature, "True Caribbean Pirates." Bob was primarily there as a member of the sailing crew of the Royaliste, which was used in the documentary as one of the pirate ships. Much of Bob's work is behind the scenes. When the ship is sailing, he is on the foredeck working the sails. They also used him as an extra because he was a such good pirate! He can be seen behind the wheel of Maynard's ship. He is also loading a musket onboard Blackbeard's ship.
MUSIC: Bob played saxophone, bass, and guitar in many bands, over the years. Currently, he was playing with two Santa Cruz bands:
CHEESE: Bob was a professional cheesemonger and cheese connoisseur.
The Good Times of Santa Cruz printed a nice article written by Christina Waters in the Food section on August 17, 2006:
A remembrance of Bob giving cheese advice is posted at the http://smallfarms.typepad.com/small_farms/2006/08/a_shock.html
Information about Point Lobos State Reserve:
The Monterey Bay Aquarium is a place where non-divers can experience the beauty of the undersea world which Bob enjoyed so thoroughly. The kelp forest webcam shows an environment similar to where Bob's emergency occurred.
